Hello Emma
I've been here five years, and I am still a bottom writer.
How the Medium algorithms does things is a mystery to me (and most others). Sixty percent of my feed has a lot of writers I do not follow. Most of the titles do not appeal to me. But when I do click I think 50% of these article get my thumbs up.
There was a time when my feed would show five or six articles that I really wanted to read. But if I clicked one to read, I might lose the others as the feed refreshed itself. So these were confounding times for me.
I think the Medium psychologists saw this paradox and adjusted the feeds to be more bland. Finding one good title in 20 is less stressful than one good title in five. That's my hypothesis.
