Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately, all these terms have acquired such broad meanings that it is easy for almost anyone to say the term was used incorrectly. Go to Wikipedia and look up socialism, conservative, or whatever. You will find all sorts of sub-divisions that only the academics would understand. Yet all these political terms as used as if there is a common understanding. There isn't.
A good oxymoron is the Communist Party of China. The only communist feature left is the one-party state. It seems quite capitalistic these days and it would not score well on socialist achievements. Yet they still have
Circa 1990, Canadian film-maker Patrick Watson tried to define "democracy" with his documentary "Struggle For Democracy". After visiting 20 or so democracies and quasi-democracies, he couldn't find that definition.
