While your analysis is sound, the bottom line is that Mr. Trump cherry-picks what is real news or fake news based on whether it harms or helps him.
Much of his base will not see the logic in the same way you did.
Rather than criticize Mr. Trump, we should be criticizing the electoral process that gave him his high office.
