Historically, my external views were about 10% of my total views. Now they are 50%. And they are coming in after the usual stale date of six days or so. I'm not sure why. If Medium is somehow reselling them, well that is not yet in my hypothetical business matrix for Medium.
BTW, a 50% increase of next-to-nothing is still close to next-to-nothing. I’m lucky to make 30 views, both internal and external. Despite getting a new follower every day.
The Medium shekels would be nice. But my mission is get various kinds of "frustrated democracy watchers" into action. Yesterday I read a great essay as to why these people cannot move into action:
A saving grace is that I read a lot of good writers with similar or just a little better traction than I have. An oversupply of good writers.
And yes, there are more than a few Medium writers who should get a writing coach — or maybe just stick to reading.
If AI can turn lurkers into subscribers, I’m all for it. Today there were four of Umair’s articles on my feed. Can you imagine writing like this: “ChatGPT, can you rewrite my essay from November 17, just change about 10% of the words.”?
