I agree with your last statement. I am an occasional watcher of both Foxx and CNN, and it almost seems if there are two USAs. I don’t even think they regard themselves as competitors any more for each is catering to a specific audience. I would even wager their marketing execs contemplate “How do we pull viewers from the NFL and Netflix?”

The model the FF used to build the foundation for the American Constitution was the English parliament of 1688, which was “kind of” from the Magna Carta of 1215. Many English features were retained, like the FPTP elections and only-the-wealthy could vote. New features were added — like the electoral college. Basically, the FF took what they had learned from the English experiment and tried to make it better. They had a unique time in history where they could easily (relatively speaking) make a whole bunch of changes.

I would to prevent any kind of revolution for big changes in democracy. The victors who survive the revolution have — historically speaking — not had a democratic mindset, so trying to build the TDG through revolution is risky. In Chapter 6, I describe the process to change from one version of democracy to a better version. The TDG matures as the old order crumbles. Eventually, the TDG will be regarded as the better system by the citizenry.
