I always respond to worthy comments. I don't get many, so I can afford the time.
When I lived in Edmonton (Ritche area), my next door neighbor was a social butterfly. She managed to get about eight households together into a great social circle. Barbecues, coffees, small visits, which later built into a more caring community.
While we were all Caucasian, we were different in most other ways: religion, age, economic status, etc. This social circle did not interfere with our other social circles. But we were always introduced to new people.
Communities can be built around neighborhoods. We don't have to live in each other's pockets, but we can socialize and care a little bit.
The TDG will create more such communities.
