I believe that I was quite clear that the Comey email fiasco and the Trump FB campaign gave Mr. Trump the edge to win in 2016. So I make my point again that Mr. Trump earned most of his 62m votes on his own merit. Whatever influence nefarious forces had in the election was small. The American system can be gamed in this way.

Whether we like it or not, "undereducated butt hurt ammosexual christians" have the right to vote and participate in American democracy. And with the Trump base (even if many of them are now backing Mr. Desantis) being about 30% of the population, this is a big problem for the USA. This 30% would prefer a one-party state than a democracy. Many government decisions have this fact influencing their decision. There is a good reason for the slow prosecution. The fact that Mr. Trump increased his numbers from 2016 to 2020 should be troubling.

The original article seemed to imply that there were already some legal or social mechanisms that could be employed to significantly reduce the misinformation being spread. I'm not seeing any solution that would be enforcable.

Your response that the Democrats somehow have a magic wand to make this all go away is naive.

I am offering a chance for astute Americans to build a new democracy:
