I came to my "conversion" hypothesis 20 years ago. Back in my binge drinking days, I had my own evangelical tendencies, trying to convince others to join me in my semi-destructive lifestyle.

I have done some reading on psychology--and have not seen anything to describe this condition. It might be there somewhere and has a name; I just have not found it yet.
