I can understand why the Democrats and media have been soft on Trump and supporters since November 3, 2020. I have a teenage son: I have to be careful of what advice I give him, lest he goes in the opposite direction. The same could happen with the Trump base by going too hard too quickly.

I don't think there a for-sure-one-right solution to this American dilemma. The people in charge took a certain path. This morning, on the one-year anniversary of January 6, Mr. Biden spoke very tough. The people in charge seem to have taken a different path. It might work. It might not.

We should really be questioning why the USA got to this point. Could it be that the USA needs to totally rework its democracy?
