I really didn't understand the connection between financing and fracking. If a petroleum activity does not make a profit, it should not be undertaken--and lenders should not lend money with such a project as collateral. However, there are probably a few con men masquerading as petroleum engineers and silly bankers giving them money. But I doubt this is common practice.
