This game is very much about what is wrong with the western world. If I could only channel a small, small percentage of that energy into building an alternative democracy. . . . . .

Methinks the forces behind the game don't want that alternative democracy.

But let’s not call me “holy.” I watched a the World Cup final, plus a few other games. I do like my Canadian Football League (where Canadian cities compete to see which city has the best Americans). The CFL does its best to promote this sport as watching this sport the most important thing Canadians could doing. I didn’t watch the Grey Cup this year, because I downsized my TV services to “basic.”

But we are indeed too addicted to spectacles.
