I estimate about 40 different presentations. They are supposedly online, but you might have to pay the conference entry fee.

Two presenter officially acknowledged the issue of not wanting to let go of power. A few other presenters kind of danced around this issue. No one seemed to have solutions--other than more training.

From my perspective, this issue is bigger than whatever faults of sociocracy that I am seeing.

The corporate world has had all sorts of gurus telling managers to give their employees some discretion in their jobs. And to some degree this has been happening. But there are still far too many managers micro-managing their subordinates.

Sociocracy should be a tool to help break these boundaries. But when the power holders really don't want to relinquish power, there's no point to bringing in sociocracy.

And when people who are not used to having power get some power, they too can abuse their new situation.

From my limited experience with sociocracy, it looks like a formal way to transfer power to the people best suited to handle that power. But a manager with common sense might be more effective.
