I fear Umair has just justified that there is no point to his articles any more. Super Tuesday put the finger on toilet bowl handle, and the toilet has just been flushed. There’s nothing he can do anymore, right? If I were thinking like him, I would stop writing articles and hope the future fascists don’t investigate too far back into articles of Medium to find their true enemies.
Here what I can do!
Well, actually, I have done all I can. The rest is up to you.
I spent six years in the back rooms of a Canadian political party and found the whole process semi-dysfunctional. Too many people jockeying for status, influence, and power. I could not change it for a kinder, wiser democracy. So I left party politics.
But somehow, I invented another system of governance. No political parties, no noisy election campaigns. Instead, voting is based on good character and competence — neighborhood by neighborhood by neighborhood. I found my kinder, wiser democracy.
Uptopia you say! Well my TDG is not going to be built by current holders of power. They’ve just got too many other things to do: like impeachment trials, fundraising for the next election, jockeying for a higher position, meeting with the plebes to give the impression they matter more than the party. You know, the important stuff!
Here are the good parts.
(1) Building the TDG will not require any permission from anyone else. No current politicians or celebrities are needed.
(2) The TDG will not require a majority to start building. Or even a significant minority. Or even a small minority. The USA needs only about 1% of Americans to start building the TDG.
(3) In these early stages, the TDG will require about 10 hours a month from its early supporters. I think can you to sacrifice some recreation time to start building a new USA.
