I figured this out in 1992, after spending six years in a Canadian political party. The internal workings of all party politics are dysfunctional is nature. That dysfunction spreads into governance and society at large.
I had some ideas on a new way in 1992. But after leaving politics, I thought I would never be in a position to have any influence. So I didn't take them anywhere.
By 1997, I had listened to enough "experts" on "improving democracy" to realize that I seem to be the only one to offer a serious alternative to western democracy. That's when I started putting my thoughts into the written word.
It is 2021. I've found a handful of innovative thinkers. But the mainstream discussion is mostly about repairing western democracy.
Even with the more open-mindedness of Medium contributors, few are willing to take a look at my new system, let alone work for it.
