I find it amazing at how many Medium readers have little concept of hard and soft support — and how political parties regard the battleground as being the soft support. This writer does not understand these political forces and motivations — even though his favored party clearly does.

I have written about the soft support in another Medium article.

In the meantime, I see three possible outcomes for 2020:

  1. A landslide D victory, with the popular vote being 58% D/42% R. The article above describes how that happen in terms of soft support.
  2. A razor R victory. Sorry there is no upside for an R landslide.
  3. A razor D victory. Not a good result as Mr. Trump is likely to declare massive voter fraud.

The D’s have a lot of leverage. We shall soon see how they will manage.

In the meantime, we should get rid of all the political parties for reason of them turning elections into psychological battlegrounds, trying to manipulate the minds of the less committed voters.
