I finished the “Foundation” series by Isaac Asimov. His prophecy, in a few places in the series, is that democracy (people electing their rulers) has a shelf life of only two to three centuries. After that, the nation (or galactic empire) reverts back to some form of oligarchy. Was Asimov correct?
