I, for one, am uncomfortable that I will just turn to dust after this body ceases functioning. Whether this is hard-wired into us biologically or is inculcated into us from the start of our lives, it is not hard to see religion as the means to ease this discomfort.

And maybe when this discomfort is eased, we do rise to more of our potential.
