I found this article confusing. But I suspect the high-ranking political players in Moscow are just as confused. There doesn't appear to be any direction. Russia is running on inertia--and friction eventually destroys inertia.

Maybe the Ukrainians are wise not to have full out counter attack, especially after that recent ammo dump attack in SE Ukraine.
