I gave your work a 20-minute read. I could feel the challenge of trying to find useful data in this difficult community.

Here is one quote I really appreciated:

"It took two weeks of trial and error before I developed a workable technique for interviewing."

I got a sense that this community was an area of study for many sociologists/anthropologists. I could sort of gather that the study happened 20 years ago. I suspect the community is still is the same state of affairs.
