I got to know two business people really well. These two built up their business from nothing and become moderately wealthy.
One trait that was common to both of them was the ability to push employees, suppliers, and customers to edge of rejection of their business, but not over that edge. They didn’t always get that edge right, but with practice they figured out where what edge was.
These fellows enjoyed this game immensely! It seemed that getting these micro-victories in psychology was more important than making a profit.
They just might have a genetic disposition to sociopathy/psychopathy. Their brain chemistry rewards their business dealings (or vice versa). Business is a good place for them to be.
Likewise, so too is politics. Life on the inside of a political party is just chock full of daily drama as political aspirants jockey for position within the party. Who’s going up? Who’s coming down? This profession attracts more than its fair share of sociopaths and psychopaths. Most [normal] people stay away as this is a hard game to play.
