I had a friend who had an alcohol problem and attended a program different than AA.
The facilitator said something like:
"A third of you will eventually somehow die from your alcoholism. There is not much we can do to help you."
"Another third will struggle off and on for the rest of your life. We can help with your low spots."
"And another third can leave this meeting and decide to never drink again."
That's what my friend did. I think he is 40 years sober.

Anyways, people going through this life challenge (and want to fix it) will have to try different things. If AA works, great. If staying with AA works, great. But AA is not for everyone.
