I had similar sentiments in 1996. I could sell my "Business English" program without have to first to go through the traditional English language publishers. But the world was a leery of buying things from the internet at that time.
The final result may be the same with or without the internet. But at least the internet allows us creative types to get our stuff "out there" for others to see. There is a satisfaction in being "out there." And it's fun!
I quit telling my family, friends, and acquaintances of my "creative project" 10 years ago. I would see eyeballs rolling backwards with "Dave is still screwing around with that alternative democracy. Doesn't he know when to quit." Many of these people spend time on the golf course or pubs or re-building classic cars.
I think my hobby is cheaper.
