I had some discussion with an Alaskan about this matter.

She indeed was confused with Alaska's last election and it's RCV. She could not understand why two Republicans and one Democrat were on the ballot, but the Democrat won. But I think she was partisan.

About 20 years, Canada's elections went to photo ID before getting a ballot. Lots of complaints, but probably 80% of us followed the new rules. It took third election cycles for these complaints to dissipate.
