I had to see Forrest Gump three times. I only needed one viewing of Pulp Fiction. But both were great movies.

I think we forget the main reason for those Awards Ceremonies: they are primarily about marketing the film industry, which is trying to convince us that watching movies is one of the most important things we do in our lives.
