I have a fledging of an understanding of how Modern Monetary Theory (MMT) works. If it can be used to finance wars, it can also be used to deal with mental illnesses and other social issues.

The question that we should be asking is: "Have we been using MMT wisely?"

In the United States, all federal decisions have been clouded with the containment of Donald Trump. In other words, fewer eyes are looking at the ball of MMT. The USA is not using MMT wisely.

Coming from Canada, our social/business programs for COVID relief were more generous than the USA. However, many years of economic planning just got thrown out the window. The MMT wizards needed to enact new plans--in a very short time---of an economic landscape that is still quickly changing.

In my mind, we should have had an economic plan already in place to handle something like COVID. Just pull it off the shelf, enact the policies that had gone through all sorts of economic analysis and been deemed the best options. Rather, we just created economic policies with only a couple weeks of thinking behind them. This to me speaks to the inadequacy of western democracy. This 18th century social engineering tool no longer works well in the 21st century.

We need a new way of reaching collective decisions, including how to manage MMT.

I think you should check out the way I have invented.
