I have a similar Canadian example. A friend of mine belongs to the left side of the spectrum. The Conservatives in Alberta were having a leadership contest. My friend joined the party, and voted for the candidate he thought was easiest for his favorite party to beat. That candidate became premier for 14 years! Oops!

That was back in 1992!

I think the USA is going to get more of this, giving how open the primaries are.

The USA really needs a new system.
