I have mixed feelings about the self-help industry. I have gotten some good practical life principles from Steven Covey and Wayne Dyer. Recently, my wife and I have been listening to the Christian theologian Andy Stanley.
I think the mistake is to rely too much on self help literature. It is easy to read, but harder to put into practice.
There are many readers for sure, but how well have they become as practitioners of what they have read? Or maybe better said: “when does saying ‘I read these self help books become more of a status symbol than a practical guide to life?’”
