I have my hypothesis about the Russian invasion, mostly related to have a not-so-sane leader in Russia who was not happy the Ukraine was taking steps to reduce the overt corruption that has been happening in the past 30 years.

I have a few stories of political corruption in Canada that does not get far in the news. But it's safe to say that this corruption is more subtle.

Whether the corruption is overt or subtle, it leads the disenchantment within the citizenry. That has an effect on how they exercise their voting right.

Could the west have done something to de-escalate the ware beforehand? Probably. But our political processes are more reactive than proactive, especially for international relations. It's much easier to wish that Russia won't invade even though it has amassed a big military near the border.

The IMF is a tool for American (and other western economies) hegemony for the developing world. It is a subtle form of colonialism. We cannot seem to put reins on this institution.

In case you haven't noticed, I have just created a short list of flaws of western democracy. This list is a reason why we should consider an alternative.

To assume that western democracy is somehow going to fix this list on its own cognitition--even with lots of citizen protests--is only wishful thinking.
