I have only "unfollowed" on writer on Medium, the one who "inspires" your story. She was telling the same story over and over again and bragged about her Medium paycheck.

Even though I unfollowed her, I would still get an occasional feed from her. I got the one for her request for money. And I got feeds from her supporters asking me to give her money. I'm not sure why the Medium gods had to let me know about that. But I thought these posts were inappropriate.

The attacks you got are part of a bigger trend, which started before Mr. Trump came to office. When I was trying to promote my alternative governance (circa 2005), I would get comments like "I don't agree with you Dave, but I defend your right to say that." I'm not hearing that kind of statement much any more. We have moved to "I don't like that person's opinion, so I will shout it down." Shouting louder and longer is now how we prove our opinions are the correct one. So sad where we have come to in the past 15 years. We have, collectively, become more mentally ill in this time.

Anyways, there is an old Persian saying I like to apply to these situations:

"If you stop to throw sticks at every dog that barks at you, you won't get very far."
