I have to agree with this piece. A couple decades ago, I read Gibbon’s “Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire.” The biggest concept I took from this book was that the Roman (and especially their leaders) could not see the obvious signs of Rome’s slow decline. Even when Alcaric sacked Rome, they couldn’t believe the Empire days were over.
I would add that if America does fall, it will bring much of the western world — and probably the rest of the world with it.
Unlike this article’s author, I have still faith in the USA. But it needs to shuck aside its 1787 political system which is no longer relevant today.
