In another comment this essay generated, I mentioned the difficulty in prosecuting white-collar crime, especially for wealthy people. So they have a tendency to get away with it. The Trump family has been getting away with it for decades. So when all these cases come at the same time, it starts smelling like a witch hunt to me.

If he had not gone into politics, he would not be in this trouble.

The "moral grey space I inhabit" is that democracy (especially the American version) is corrupt. It cannot be fixed. It needs to be replaced. I have a solution that deserves an investigation.
