I have to disagree.
We need an orderly transition from the petroleum economy to a hydrogen economy. We can get there with a will thought-out plan. Or we can get there by taking a thousand stabs in the dark.
Unfortunately, our current systems of government are unable to carve out such any orderly plan.
In the meantime, those working in the industry are still providing valuable service to the world economy. Please don't quit your jobs. We don't need your jobs being filled by rank amateurs.
I am hoping that in 50 years, the petroleum industry will be about 20% of what it is today. But there's no plan.
