I have to wonder about the economics of this player. He knows he is not going to the big leagues, so it’s doubtful he is making a big salary. Yet he is doing lots of driving across the border and (seemingly) paying for lodging on the American side. At some point, he needs to get a real job with training that can take him to retirement.
The college I work for has its star basketball player from Brazil. This fellow has been through several collegiate leagues already for eligibility regulations limit his time in any one league. Supposedly he is taking courses to count as a student, but word is that he is that studious. There is not much education happening.
He is 33 years old. There’s no pro league that will touch him. It is time for him to grow up.
