I haven't seen the film. But I read the paperback. Actually printed in the late 1950s. Might have been a collector's item, but I lost it.

I also recall some scenes in the book where some people took on dangerous hobbies, like excessive auto racing. If they are going to die soon, why not die a little sooner and have some fun?
