I heard that the Facebook algorithms can identity an ex-Catholic even though the person never posts anything about the Catholic Faith. If so, I suspect it has determined the psychological characteristics of other religions as well. We probably will never shake completely the hold of our childhood religion.
I too am an ex-Catholic. I left when I was 15 because I wanted a party lifestyle and the two “religions” were incompatible. One had to go — and it wasn’t the alcohol.
The basic tenets of Christian theology don’t make sense to me. So I won’t be joining any version of Christianity. However, if I see someone using those tenets to become a better person, that is good for them — and the rest of us.
My wife and I like watching videos from Andy Stanley, a preacher from Atlanta. He has a different take on Scriptures — and even non-Christians can take away valuable life lessons.
