I hope you are right. The USA could bumble through this situation. But back in 2016, the pundits did not believe Mr. Trump could win. Even Mr. Trump seemed to have doubts.

I hope the smart people in Washington are preparing for a lot of civil unrest after the 2022 election. This is a possibility that cannot be wished away.
