I joined FB in 2008 and was watching a metalhead philosopher market his motivational CDs. He had built a following of 30,000 people and was posting daily. Then the FB gods limited his posts to about 100 walls at a time. So he posted maybe 20 times a day, which requires more time.
Anyways, he built his marketing machine. When things started looking good for him, he got the rug pulled out from under him. Definitely manor house economics.
At the same time, I was following the posts of my favorite provincial park. They were also posting once a day to their audience. But with the changes, they decided to stop their FB marketing.
FB waited until we were hooked before unleashing the ads. We could not easily drop out after that.

I suspect that when internet forum judgements are made, they are not made by wise experienced watchers of the internet. Rather they are made by 23-year old youth, working for close to minimum wage. Their job is to find people to kick off. They probably have a quota: look at 1000 people in a shift and kick out the worst 2. On Monday, the definition of "worst" will be different than for Tuesday.
I know of a fellow who got kicked off LinkedIn because he was quite vocal about COVID vaccinations and masking. Did they warn him? I cannot say.
I know a few Medium people who have been suspended. They seem to come back, so there is some process of appeal in Medium. How many strikes, I cannot say. What causes a suspension, I cannot say because other people with equally offending stuff still operate.
I got into a little tussle with a top writer on Medium. I wonder if he had something to do with me getting a minimal exposure on the feeds. I'm still a bottom writer--after five years. But more likely, it is my topic.
