I joined Medium in April as a means to promote my book on an alternative system of governance. To build my base, I have been recycling articles written for other forums. Generally speaking, these articles don’t go very far in Medium — and I’ve decided it is a waste of my time to post more articles.

I don’t think it is the quality of my articles. They have generated a lot of discussion in other forums. Just for some reason, the Medium algorithms just won’t show them. I could get upset, but I see there is a lot of competition for attention on Medium. The people behind Medium need to set things up such that this forum can pay its bills and perhaps earn a profit. Who am I to advise them on their business plan?

But I sure like reading articles here. Very informative and good reading. I’ve learned more new things here than all the other forums I have participated in.

It is a little frustrating that the well-regarded writers seldom acknowledge my comments on their articles. And unfortunately, I can count my quality social relationships here on one hand. I think Medium is too big to develop a viable internet community.

But in the end, it as all about free choice. Medium chooses the rules. Writers and readers choose their level of participation. No one should be angry.
