I just recently read "Hoosier Hysterical", a historical piece that uses humor to teach history of Indiana. On May 23, 1863, Indiana had its own version of January 6. The Republicans kicked the Democrats out of the state legislature and the Democrats were amassing a militia to take it back. Obviously, they settled things since then.

True it is that we pick the news we want to hear. We are all guilty of this this.

And I found it interesting that the stock price of the NYT is dependent on Donald Trump as being the prez.

It is plausible that the USA could be heading for a one-party state soon. Democracies are not forever--and the signs are there for this kind of change. But maybe the USA democracy will continue to bumble along, generating all sorts of controversy along the way.
