I just remembered another Slovak community in Alberta. In the southwest corner, there used to be quite a few coal mines. So Pincher Creek and Crowsnest Pass became locations of many Slovaks. Some of these came directly from Slovakia. But some also immigrated from Pennsylvania which had its own history of Slovak miners. These Slovaks came before my grandfather, probably 1900 to 1920.

In the Crowsnest Pass, there is a little monument to the Slovak miners.

There is another Slovak village in central Alberta. I just can't recall. The website does not seem acknowledge other groups of Slovaks in Alberta.
