I liked the analogy of food regulations. We really can't let these businesses decide on the rules and levels of enforcement.
And there has been a big outbreak of E-Coli in Calgary.
How about after a forest has been harvested, the government uses some of proceeds from the logging company to replant in a better way.
Then and if the government decides to re-harvest the forest several decades later, the government just puts the forest back up for auction.
Giving the logging company long-term rights just because it hired some kids to tromp around, well . . .
And yes, the carbon capture schemes and derivatives only benefit the finance industry. If I promise not to fart (methane gas), somebody should pay me, right?
