I live in a town in southern Alberta where a beef plant is the main employer. Actually I used to work at this plant many years ago, so the writer is spot on in describing this kind of job.
I suspect the company does not want to stay open. It can’t make a profit when “the chain” is running at 3/4 speed because too many workers are sick.
If the plants are to remain open by government order, maybe the government should sequester rich, white people, who don’t have much to do these days except self-isolate, to work the lines.
