I often wonder about the intent of protests. Do protests actually move the world forward? Or do protests give the participants the feeling that they have done something to further a good cause--and alleviate their consciences?

Anyways, we have "we are on native land" acknowledgements in Canada as well. Maybe its feigned piety. Maybe it will be part of a great readjustment.
