I often wonder at why teams put such emphasis on the last few plays of a close game. If one team was indeed superior to the other, then the game should not have gone down to a coin flip in the last few seconds. Yet the winner is regarded as a “champion” and the loser is regarded as a “loser.”
Going back to a political analogy, the 2016 presidential election, it came down to a coin flip. Mr. Trump ended up on top. This does not mean Mr. Trump is vastly superior to Ms. Clinton. Nor should it mean that the excuses of the electoral college, email scandal, and Russion intervention were the reasons for Ms. Clinton’s downfall. Mr. Trump earned most of his 62 million votes on his own merit. If Ms. Clinton was indeed superior to Mr. Trump, none of these excuses would have mattered.
