I perhaps spent too much time in my youth reading MAD magazines. There are still too many MAD images stuck in my head.

One was an Al Jaffee cartoon. An elderly lady is in a store. There are two cages displayed, each with a demon enclosed. One cage/demon is big; the other is small. The lady is pointing towards the smaller cage/demon. The store clerk is getting ready to package it. The caption: “Voting is like choosing the lesser of two evils.”

Not much has changed in 45 years since that cartoon. It’s not hard to understand why many people do not vote or cast a vote flippantly. They just don’t see much difference.

It is time we gave a reason for people to vote:
