I served on a recycling board in southern Alberta for six years. We shipped our carboard anywhere from Seattle to Montreal. Our shipments were "back hauls," meaning the trucks took our loads when they didn't have higher paying loads. Saves on fuel, but I still wonder if there is not a better way to keep cardboard to its source.

Then, of course, are all those container ships in our oceans using fuel. A much higher fuel tax will result in result in more local solutions.

I've been writing about an alternative democracy for 25 years. If this democracy is implemented, we will find politicians who can truly lead us to where we need to go. The solutions this article seems to be calling for will be much more implementable with this democracy.
