The high-level back-room operators are far less than 100% successful in their musings and applications. Their "political fortune telling" skills might be higher than the best of Medium contributors, but not by much. No one in this field really knows how things will work out.

The behavior of the Republican Party is such that its members sense a coup is in the wind. There was a good Medium article on how Michael Flynn et el were putting the pieces together for the coup. It seemed their boss didn't like someone else looking like the boss.

It would be very difficult to strategize against this political strategy.
