I struggle with understanding MMT. Keynes just makes common sense. One of your responders recommended a book on MMT, which I have just bought.

I always wondered how the various powers financed WW2. All those new tanks, planes, and ships had to be paid somehow. The only explanation is MMT. I remember reading an article that the "Victory Bonds" were never a device to fund the war effort, but a means to reduce consumer demand so steel, fuel, etc. could be diverted to the war effort.
