I think the relevance here is that humanity has designed systems assuming a certain climate model. Let's use the Florida Peninsula as a example. In 100 years, it might be hard for humans to live there.
Maybe it is naive for humanity to assume that climate will never change. But for this particular change, it seems we have caused it, endangering a lot of infrastructure on places near sea level.
Anyways, we are already seeing the economies adjusting. People in Florida are likely to still live there, until the next disaster when insurance and rebuilding relief is not there. They will abandon their property, then they migrate inland.
