I think we need to get away from the capiltalism vs socialism, liberal vs conservative, and left vs. right paradigms. There is no idealogy that solve all probems.

My philosophy is this:

1) There are situations where governments need to leave decisions and the consequences to individuals.

2) there are situations where governments need to take collective action to better society.

3) The decision between 1 & 2 shall be made through democratic due process.

4) All decisions must be monitored--and changed if needed.
